Update | Crowdstrike Windows outage - ongoing remediation efforts
[Updated Wednesday, July 24]
Beginning Thursday July 19, Windows machines worldwide began experiencing a blue screen error caused by a Crowdstrike update.
This error has interrupted several ASU services. A workaround has been found, and teams have been working towards bringing these systems back online.
To help the ASU Community implement this fix, the following options are available to you:
- Contact the deskside support for your unit. To locate deskside support contact information, please use the Unit Deskside Support Directory.
- If you cannot find the contact information for your Deskside team: please submit a ServiceNow ticket.
- If the classroom workstation you are in has been impacted by this outage: please contact your unit classroom support team. Their contact information is posted in all classrooms. Classrooms currently holding summer classes will have functional Windows devices on Monday, July 22.
- If you have administrative device access and would like to self-service, please follow the steps outlined in our Knowledge Base article. These are the same steps being observed by your Deskside Support team.
- You may also contact the Experience Center if you need support at 1-855-278-5080.
As a reminder, major IT incidents often attract attempts by cybercriminals to exploit the situation—please remain vigilant. ASU will never request your login credentials, even to address an outage. Communications from ASU IT personnel will never contain requests for sensitive data, and calls, texts, or emails from external, non-ASU IT personnel to ‘fix your computer' are not legitimate and should not be complied with.
If you receive an email, text, or phone call regarding this incident and are uncertain about its legitimacy, please contact us at infosec@asu.edu. We appreciate your patience and will provide intermittent updates throughout the coming days.
Thank you for your continued patience.
