2020 ASU Partner to Protect Arizona Unconference

Cyber health is about proactive protection. Being proactive means understanding emergent trends and challenges -- and strategizing accordingly. The 2020 ASU Partner to Protect Arizona Unconference will convene and collaboratively engage a community of cybersecurity professionals, practitioners, partners, and champions, in partnership with Crowdstrike, to work together to build upon the themes we surfaced in on October 2nd Threat Hunting event. This event is designed to bring a panoramic view of the top incoming threats and opportunities each one of us have in front of us to reduce risk.

7 Vital Themes

Engage in discussions and strategic planning activities through the lens of 7 vital themes surfaced during ASU’s October 2019 Cybersecurity Awareness Month events. Initial discussions resulted in the formulation of actionable points of entry for the 2020 Unconference:

1. Community-Building + Strategic Partnerships

How do we foster an open-sharing culture where oft-separate entities forge meaningful relationships, with regular touchpoints, in an increasingly digital world?

How can we best build third-party security partnerships around effective access management and identity management?

2. Career Pipeline Development

How do we help businesses better understand cybersecurity so we can partner on pipelines across all industries?

How can we better connect formal education and the workforce, engaging educators every step of the way?

What curriculum needs to be developed?

3. Equity + Inclusion in Cybersecurity

How can we foster a culture of diversity and inclusion in the cybersecurity field?

How can we make high-quality cybersecurity education and training more accessible to all?

4.  Ongoing Education + Training

What kinds of professional development opportunities for leaders and practitioners are needed to constantly advance the field?

5. Research + Grants

What kinds of research are needed to advance innovative approaches in the field?

What upcoming grants or joint research initiatives can we collaborate on?

6. Shifting Public Perceptions + Welcoming the Next Gen

What are the common myths about cybersecurity and cybersecurity careers and how can we dispel them?

How do we bolster student interest in cybersecurity and better engage those interested?

How do we devise communications and opportunities that span generations?

7.  Threat Intelligence Governance + Automation

What are evidence-based practices/methods for tracking and automation of provisioning, and how can we establish centralized databases to support the field?

How can we foster a Hacker Mindset to be more proactive?

What's an Unconference?

At the 2020 Trusted Learner Network Unconference, there is no set program -- just overarching themes and goals. While there will be plenary discussions and small-group discussions, participants ultimately self-organize around the actionable themes and ideas that resonate most with their work and passions. Ideas are also generated from participants ahead of time to be built upon.

Unconference does not mean Unorganized; by the end of the day, participants will have completed deep work that will be captured in a communique, reflecting the perspectives of the whole community, that guides the TLN Community in 2020 and beyond.
