A Conversation with Author Ben Green on “The Smart Enough City”

ASU University City Exchange (UCX) will host a roundtable discussion on the definitions of the “smart city” including the both intelligent policy making and the judicious application of new of technologies.  Special attention will be paid to outcomes, whether intended or otherwise, especially in the promotion of efficiency, equity, and even, democracy. The featured guest will be the author Ben Green, “The Smart Enough City”, who will draw upon his experience as a data scientist in the City of Boston’s Department of Innovation and as a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.  He will join a select group ASU faculty and community leaders who have an interest in this topic, many of whom are working in concert with the UCX office on projects in the region (the redesign of Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, the Rio Reimagined river revitalization of the Salt/Gila corridor, the proposed Belmont logistics hub in the West Valley).  Duke Reiter, Special Advisor to the President and Executive Director of UCX will moderate an open-ended discussion of the optimal use of technologies in the built environment.
