Ready to #BeCyberSmart? Take part in ASU's Think! campaign during Cybersecurity Awareness Month

At the forefront of technological advancements, Arizona State University is immersed in the ever-expanding, global digital landscape. ASU promotes digital equity and literacy, expands broadband initiatives and leverages new tools for enhanced remote learning.

All of these elements are embodied in ASU's Think! campaign during Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CSAM): stay connected, get protected and #BeCyberSmart!

Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, CSAM is a month-long campaign dedicated to offering ”cyber smart” guidance. As a CSAM champion, ASU will be providing resources and recommendations to the students, faculty, researchers, staff and wider Arizona communities whose use of digital tools shapes their daily lives. From homework on Canvas to board meetings on Zoom, cyberspace has become an integral part of our workplace and educational success, compelling us to develop a keen awareness of online safety — a skill more crucial than ever before. 

October’s agenda has a variety of engaging cyber-awareness articles, events and activities designed to enhance your technological prowess — Spot the Phish, a “Trick or Treat” phishing challenge, steganography puzzles and more!

Week 1: Register for the Next-Generation Cybersecurity virtual event on October 6, 2021 starting at 9:00a.m. MST; presenters include ASU's Chief Information Security and Digital Trust Officer Dr. Donna Kidwell and Michael Palmer, Hearst Chief Information Security Officer and former NFL executive. Activities also include a meme competition and scavenger hunt.

Week 2: Test your ability to 'Spot the Phish' and join us at Memorial Union on October 13-14 for the "Trick or Treat" phishing challenge.

Week 3: Register for a special edition of Innov8: A Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 20 at 3:00p.m. MST. Innov8 host and UTO's Executive Director of Digital Trust Initiative Timothy Summers will be joined by Helen Patton for a discussion on zero trust security models and the future of careers in cybersecurity. Acitivites this week will also include a steganography puzzle.

Week 4: Close out the month with a jeopardy game.
