A look at UTO’s 2021 Fall Semester “By the Numbers”
Editor’s note: UTO’s By the Numbers is moving to a new publishing cadence to align with the Fall, Spring and Summer semester at ASU. This edition looks at the Fall 2021 semester from October 1 - December 31, 2021.
2021 was a year of advanced digital landscapes, with the fall semester in particular exemplifying efforts to not only enhance the Sun Devil experience, but broaden the technological horizons of communities beyond ASU. The UTO website itself has undergone an extensive upgrade, reflecting the countless enhancements made across our office through a sleeker web platform. As our IT enthusiasts pursued ambitious initiatives, UTO’s endeavors this semester can be summed up as “data-driven.”
In October, ASU leaders attended the highly-anticipated EDUCAUSE Conference, showcasing the best thinking in higher education IT. Participants contributed countless perspectives on how to best wield technology to transform education. Insights didn’t end there, however; the following month welcomed over 800 participants to engage in ASU’s annual Data Conference, where collaborators shared in their enthusiasm for creating the most efficient workflows possible. Accomplishments continued to stretch beyond ASU: ASU's Cloud Innovation Center explored regional and international challenges that can be addressed via “smart technology solutions,” honing in on crucial water-supply data collected in eThekwini, the third largest municipality in South Africa.
The numbers associated with these events, and many more, attest to UTO’s impact made in the past few months.
