ASU Mobile App updates you need to know about

At Arizona State University, our app developers didn’t just take your feedback to heart — they made it personal. The result? A revamped ASU Mobile App that’s tailor-made to your needs.

With thousands of downloads, the ASU Mobile App is enhancing the student, learner, faculty, and alumni experience. With recent updates offering a customizable, user-friendly interface, it’s easier than ever for Sun Devils to navigate daily tasks and communication, regardless of their location.

“We’re taking personalization to a new level,” said Eric Sandmeyer, the product manager leading the updates on the ASU Mobile App. “The new features give our ASU community the power to decide what they want to see and need on the app.”

The app acts as a portal allowing Sun Devils to view class schedules, access ASU football tickets, get directions across campus, and various other functions — right at your fingertips. The updates add to these existing features while providing more ways to connect and engage with other Sun Devils through the app.

Let’s look at some of the recent enhancements our developers, in collaboration with the Office of the University Provost, made to enhance your experience while using the ASU Mobile App.

What’s new for students: access to student platforms and more ways to earn Sun Devil rewards

We know communication is key to success, so our designers integrated access to Slack, Canvas and MyASU through the app, streamlining how you engage with your peers and professors. And good news — our developers are working to reduce how frequently you have to authenticate yourself through each digital gate into various ASU applications.

Reading and sharing ASU News also comes with new reward opportunities. Now, you earn Pitchfork points every time you read or share an ASU News story. Once you accumulate enough points, you are eligible to earn big prizes — from autographed merchandise to tickets for campus events and exclusive experiences that only ASU can provide. This experience, provided by Sun Devil Rewards, is available directly in the app.

The app also now includes personalized widgets and pages for users, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.

What’s new for faculty and staff: handy HR tools and personalized news feed

Say hello to your new, personalized ASU News feed. Now, app users can stay in the loop with all the latest happenings at ASU, customized to their interests. The news section has been enriched with personalized feeds from The Graduate Insider, ASU News and “News for Me” tabs, tailoring the content you see to what matters most to you. And it’s not just faculty, students also have this feature.

In addition to a personalized news feed, we’ve rolled out the new HR experience feature for Sun Devil faculty and staff. This feature provides faculty with the full suite of HR experiences, such as time reporting, payroll info, employee wellness info, view/update personal information, benefits info, company directory, HR service center and total compensation — right from the app.

And like our student users, faculty will also benefit from our upcoming improvements to the app’s navigation and authentication process.

For Sun Devils, the ASU Mobile App acts as a portal to access university resources — all in one convenient place. More importantly, the enhanced navigation between Canvas, Slack and MyASU in the app brings the ASU community closer together, fostering an inclusive, connected community.
