This page will be updated regularly to reflect the most current information regarding the transition from MediaAMP/Modalis to ASU MediaPlus.

MediaPlus is a media streaming and management platform developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in partnership with ASU. This technology utilizes Amazon’s Media Services that scales to meet ASU’s needs with a focus on speed, security and global delivery.

The launch of MediaPlus will include a range of commonly used features. *Note that as of Dec 15, 2021, some features are still in development.

As of 3/25/24 access to MediaPlus is now automatically provided to all ASU faculty, staff, and student employees.

Log in with your ASURITE username and password at https://mediaplus.asu.edu, or follow the MediaPlus link in any ASU Canvas course to get started.

MediaAMP is being discontinued by their parent company. ASU has been given a limited amount of time to transition to a new service. All existing media in MediaAMP is being copied and saved to transition to MediaPlus starting in early December.

You will access support for MediaPlus the same way that you accessed support for MediaAMP. Users of MediaPlus will be able to access support through the Experience Center as a single point of access. You will also be able to report issues via the Service Catalog, and on Slack in #mediaplus-support.

Media and transcripts currently on MediaAMP will be migrated to the new platform. Instructure is also involved in this transition to help relink media used in Canvas. ET is working closely with Instructure to define this process. 

Yes, the MediaPlus team is working with PlayPosit to transition the MediaAMP assets to MediaPlus. ET is working closely with PlayPosit to define this process.

Yes, transcription and captioning services are essential for accessibility purposes and to meet ADA requirements. This functionality is a core requirement of the new media streaming platform.

Automatic captioning and transcription was introduced into MediaPlus in July 2022.

Videos may be uploaded and shared in MediaAMP for Spring courses. Supporting a seamless transition, links to MediaAMP resources in Canvas will automatically be transferred to MediaPlus, eliminating the need to reupload or transfer those resources yourself. Please note that MediaAMP content will not yet appear in MediaPlus, and will continue to be available in MediaAMP until all Canvas links have been updated. Changes to this process will be broadly communicated.

ET is working closely with MediaAMP to ensure that existing content is secured and can be transferred to the new platform. It is not anticipated that faculty will need to take action to backup existing content on MediaAMP.

MediaAMP currently remains available to the community as the University’s solution for multimedia hosting and delivery.
