Voices and Vision: STEM for K-12 Students

This past week, ASU hosted two “Voices and Vision” breakout sessions for the Chief Science Officers (CSO) STEM camp for K-12 students at the Tempe campus. In partnership with the AZ Tech Initiative, the events explored “how best to incorporate technology to communicate ideas, discoveries, and data to a diverse audience,” facilitator and UTO Training and Support staff member Casey Davis said.

The CSO program, a multi-regional effort, facilitates election of the Chief Scientific Officers, students in grades 6 through 12, by their peers to be liaisons for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). They and their mentors explore STEM educational opportunities, advocate for the student voice, and connect with science-based organizations to collaborate.
