The seventeenth annual ASU+GSV Summit will focus on the rapid technological shift of higher educational and lifelong learning.

Advances in artificial intelligence and other technologies bring transformative new tools to educators, improving how we learn, breaking down barriers and more. Together, these developments create today’s so-called “once-in-a-generation inflection point” in education. 

Arizona State University’s technology leadership will unveil these rapid developments, share their insights and lead sessions and engaging conversations about the accelerating shift in education at the ASU+GSV Summit on April 12-15 in San Diego, California. The theme of this year’s ASU+GSV Summit, “The Power of Fusion,” focuses on the convergence of learning, capital and the human dimension amidst rapid technological shifts. The summit will examine new educational access across all life stages — from pre-kindergarten to retirement — through AI and emerging technologies.

What does the AI bubble mean for education?

Monday, April 13 | 9–9:40 a.m. | La Jolla A and B, Level 2

This session explores how ASU is navigating the development and refinement of AI tools. Gonick is part of a panel that will discuss how K-12 and higher education leaders examine what's working, what's wishful thinking, and how to build AI strategies that can weather market volatility. What is the peril and promise of AI that will permeate both K-12 and higher ed?

ASU’s CreateAI Platform, An Enterprise Strategy for Designing AI for Everyone at Scale.

CreateAI is ASU's flagship enterprise AI platform and toolkit with more than 21,000 creators and 7,000 AI experiences in the ASU marketplace. This panel will explore:

  • ASU's AI Journey, education’s market need and demand for "AI in a Box" platforms and solutions that are vendor agnostic

  • Accelerating deployment strategies for AI

  • Public-private partnerships to enable broader adoption of AI environments that support no-code product creation on top of robust, secure, private, compliant and fit-for-purpose education ecosystems

The Human Algorithm: Can Technology Advance Student Success Without Replacing the Student?

This session will explore the question from the perspectives of graduate students, senior learning technologists, and higher education administrators and educators. Rice is part of a panel that will address pressing questions facing contemporary students and institutions, such as: Are we using technology to expand student agency — or unintentionally shifting authority from students to systems?

Recruit, retain and engage with Agentic AI.

As institutions pursue stronger engagement and retention, a new wave of agentic AI tools promises personalized outreach, predictive support and 24/7 responsiveness. The potential is transformative, from scalable connection and early risk detection to an enhanced student experience. But the reality is still unfolding. Should student voices be the key performance indicator? Can these systems truly lower costs, empower staff and increase persistence? This session will explore the promises, trade-offs and human considerations, from privacy and authenticity to agency as higher education navigates the line between automation and co-intelligence.

Learning, sharing and sparking new ideas

At the ASU + GSV Summit, Enterprise Technology will release the fourth in its series of publications titled, “The AI Journey at ASU,” themed AI in motion. 

In addition, Gonick will host his podcast, “Voices of Innovation,” a series in which industry leaders discuss strategic leadership, student preparedness and transformed industries in the age of AI.
