Join ASU’s University Technology Office at the Smart Region Summit, co-produced by a cohort of smart city partners across Arizona+, for the second installment of Technology in the Public Interest: An Author Series -- "Rethinking Smart Cities." The topic of smart cities and regions is arguably one of the biggest contemporary springboards for economic growth and societal wellness. Ben Green, author of The Smart Enough City Putting Technology in Its Place to Reclaim Our Urban Future will lead a community dialog on leveraging technology to promote democracy and equity. Ben is a PhD Candidate in Applied Math at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and an Affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. Analyzing the intersections of data science with law, policy, and social science, Ben focuses on the social justice and policy implications of data-driven algorithms deployed by governments.
Technology in the Public Interest: An Author Series is a collaboration between UTO and the Institute for Humanities Research, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning, School of Public Affairs, The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions.
