New collaboration with ServiceNow brings industry certifications to ASU students

For more than a decade, Arizona State University has leveraged ServiceNow as a strategic vendor collaborator, powering enterprise IT service management and digital workflow automation across the institution. Building on this longstanding vendor collaboration, ServiceNow is extending a new academic opportunity to ASU, creating pathways for students to gain in-demand technical skills and industry-recognized certifications.

ServiceNow University Campus Leaders is a program that empowers student representatives to champion the IT platform across their campus communities. The inaugural class of campus leaders spans eight universities and represents over 325,000 students, working collectively to shape the future of technological talent across fields in business, computer science, IT support, engineering, and more.

The program allows students to earn their first two certifications quickly: System Administrator Training and Application Developer Training. For more information on this ServiceNow Certificate Training program, sign up by visiting the web form.

Alex LaVasse, an undergraduate at the W. P. Carey School of Business studying computer information systems, serves as an ASU ServiceNow campus leader. LaVasse is working to further student careers before they enter the workforce.

“Having these skills can help you in the future,” LaVasse said. “For anyone in the tech field, with any type of big company that uses ServiceNow, having some grasp of it makes it easier to start working for that company, and it helps your resume a lot. It opens a lot more doors.”

But the program is not just for IT-related degree paths. According to ASU ServiceNow Systems Administrator Matthew McDaniel, the program is encouraged for students of all disciplines.

“I can definitely see this impacting many colleges, many departments, many organizations, and many student groups,” McDaniel said. “It’s a game changer, because typically these certifications out of the box cost about $500. This is the kind of opportunity I wish more people started with! It connects what ServiceNow can do to what organizations actually need (certified talent). That’s how you go from learning the platform to delivering real impact."

This is not the first time ASU has worked with vendors to bridge education and employment for Sun Devils across the university. The Arista Upskilling Program at ASU supports students in earning industry-standard certifications, including three levels of network engineering certificates.

By elevating student ambassadors and embedding industry training directly into the university experience, the partnership ensures that students are not just aware of emerging technologies but are prepared to work with them.
