ASU and Salesforce celebrate 10 years of partnership

Yesterday, Arizona State University (ASU) welcomed partners – turned colleagues and friends – from Salesforce to the Tempe campus for a day of celebration in recognition of 10 years of partnership.

“A big part of what makes ASU innovative is its commitment to, and energy for, scale and growth,” said Lev Gonick, the university’s chief information officer. “Among a suite of tools, a platform like Salesforce supports that ambition.”

The university is home to one of the largest Salesforce implementations in higher education.

Today, Salesforce is used as ASU’s primary customer relationship management (CRM) tool to support learner success and case management; as well as support marketing and recruitment, alumni relations, athletics, donor engagement and extended education.

This year marks a decade of collaboration between ASU and Salesforce. ASU leverages a variety of Salesforce's services and tools to support a better-connected enterprise when it comes to communication, knowledge sharing and personalization in serving the diverse needs of the Sun Devil community.

Yesterday’s Salesforce 10-year Anniversary Celebration took attendees through an exploration of ASU’s journey to a better-connected enterprise, with speakers including a mix of executives from both organizations. The day culminated in a ceremony to mark the 10-year milestone, with the festive atmosphere elevated by a special visit from ASU's own Sparky the Sun Devil.

Deeply rooted in its Charter of advancing access, discovery and social embeddedness, ASU takes a multi-enterprise approach that offers excellence at scale for learning, research and operations.

"As we celebrate a remarkable decade of partnership, it's clear that this collaboration has been a cornerstone in driving ASU's mission,” shared Chris Howard, ASU’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, ahead of the event. “Salesforce has not just been a technology provider; they have been a pivotal partner in our journey toward redefining the educational landscape.”

Highlights of the Salesforce and ASU partnership:

  • Today, there are 5,000+ licensed Salesforce users across the university, across 85+ business units and 10 unique instances
  • In 2019, the university added Slack to its suite of tools for enhanced collaboration.
  • In April 2022, ASU was the university-host for the Salesforce Education Summit.
