Links.asu.edu is transitioning to a new platform

Beginning May 15, Google will begin retiring the URL shortener platform that the links.asu.edu service is hosted on. On Saturday, this service will switch over to read-only followed by decommissioning all together on June 15.

UTO will begin exporting all ASU short links and importing them to a new platform hosted on short.io. This move will retain all the links crafted throughout the years, but will not provide a self-service option for creating new links or managing existing links right away. The short link will continue forward as links.asu.edu/[insert name of your choice]. The main difference will be that instead of using a Google interface for managing those short links, you'll use the Service Now Catalog to submit your request.

Once we have a self-service option available through ServiceNow, we will send out an updated communication. We estimate this catalog item will be released in early June.  In the meantime, please contact the Experience Center if you have any further questions.
