Spring 2023 semester recap: Key stories

The Enterprise Technology newsroom offers a myriad of stories throughout the semester, demonstrating the creativity and hard work of students, faculty and staff. This spring, the support of student success, exploration of emerging technology, connection with community and thoughtful envisioning of our future were themes repeated time and again in our storytelling efforts.

1. Supporting student success

Enterprise Technology plays a vital role in advancing ASU’s commitment to student success through collaborative, technological innovation. From the introduction of state-of-the-art digital tools to providing ongoing support of existing resources, we are at the forefront of efforts to use technology to enhance the educational experience for all ASU learners.

Faculty use ASU Sync Studios to connect with remote students

ASU Sync is the university’s third learning modality — alongside fully immersive and online. It provides students with technology-enhanced, fully interactive remote learning.

ASU film students use cutting-edge technology at new MIX Center

Amid the ever-evolving digital landscape across campuses, ASU’s hub for filmmaking and media production underwent a transformative shift of its own last semester.

2. Exploring emerging technology at ASU

From extended reality labs to attending classes in the Metaverse, Enterprise Technology is finding innovative ways to enhance the many ways to connect and collaborate. And with a growing list of partnerships with leading tech companies, we are emerging as a model for other universities looking to stay ahead of the digital curve

ASU students use storytelling to drive awareness of water scarcity

Over a dozen ASU students came together to find new ways to use interactive storytelling to increase public awareness around Arizona’s water crisis, stemming from ongoing drought conditions in the Southwest.

Student workers shape future of immersive education

A unique combination of technology and student leadership offers a glimpse into a future where students are both learning and leading in immersive, collaborative environments. 

3. Connecting with community

ASU serves those outside the direct boundaries of its campuses. Through projects to close the digital divide, partnerships with local elementary schools to foster interest in STEM careers and more, the university and Enterprise Technology are providing resources to local communities and beyond.

Advocates address digital equity at ASU Smart Region Summit

The event brought together local and global leaders to implement smart city and regional initiatives, with this year's focus on digital innovation and inclusion. 

Elementary students connect with Cardinals for a day of STEM

Over 75 sixth-grade students visited ASU to explore game design, immersive storytelling and immersive learning through various hands-on activities.
