UTO Celebrates Giving Back Tuesday by Launching Ambassador Program
It’s Giving Back Tuesday, and we are excited to announce the Giving Back Ambassador program! This program provides members of the UTO the opportunity to be more active in the Giving Back community, organize events, socialize the initiative, and represent our goal of supporting the community. Ambassadors are key to sustaining the Giving Back program, from championing events to assisting in specific program development.
They will be embedded in various UTO groups creating a stronger network of giving. Our unofficial 2018 Ambassadors include Ruvi, Amanda, Nate, Dave, Kelly, Bonnie, Paul, and Sandy. Coupled with the UTO leadership pledge of “time to give,” Ambassadors will be the delegates taking the program into the new year with full support of the Giving Back Team.
The Giving Back Team is seeking 6-10 individuals across the UTO to join the Giving Back Ambassador team for a one-year term. Leading the 2019 team is Bonnie LeBlanc. If you are interested in participating now or in the future, take a moment to check in with her to learn more.
As a refresher: the Giving Back Team’s mission is to grow and sustain a culture of giving and drive community impact. During development of the infrastructure, the team engaged in a variety of volunteering events to start cultivating the spirit of team giving, and jump-start the momentum.
Since February of this year, together over 100 UTO staff have participated in more than a dozen activities, including:
- Harvesting ASU oranges for the local food bank
- Supporting New Student Orientations
- Cleaning up Papago Park
- Championing the Judy Lauvai family support fund
- Packing over 118,000 meals for Feed My Starving Children
- Organizing a plastic bag drive for Lost Our Home pet rescue, mitigating an emergency need
- Volunteering at the local St. Mary’s Food Bank
- Raising $600 for the Valley of the Sun United Way in the coin wars
